Frequently asked questions

Common questions about setting up SkillScorer, customising it for your organisation, and how reporting and access work.

Getting started

What is SkillScorer?

SkillScorer is a skills assessment and tracking platform. It gives your organisation a structured way to score people against a defined set of skills, track how those scores change over time, and report on individuals, teams, or the whole organisation.

Which industries does SkillScorer support?

SkillScorer supports more than 150 industries out of the box, from Sports, Corporate, Trades, Healthcare, Education, Hospitality, Emergency Services, and Fitness & Wellness to Mining, Aviation, Retail, IT, Agriculture, Legal, and many more. Each has its own default terminology, disciplines, skills, and age or career-level groups. Browse them all on the Industries page.

What if we can't find our industry or discipline?

Every industry preset is fully editable. You can start from whichever preset is closest to how your organisation works and rename fields, add your own skills, and adjust levels from there. If nothing fits, choose the Generic Industry: it starts blank so you can add your own skills, or contact us and we will add your industry or discipline for you.

Customisation

Can we customise the skills and terminology?

Yes. Skills, labels, and age or career-level groups all start from your industry preset and stay fully editable at any time — SkillScorer adapts to how your organisation already works.

Can we add skills or disciplines that aren't in the default list?

Yes, at any time. Each industry preset ships with a full starting set — for example Sports includes 10 disciplines and around 120 individual skills — but none of it is fixed. Add new skills, add entirely new disciplines, or rename and remove anything in the defaults to match exactly how your organisation works.

How does scoring actually work day to day?

The Skills Matrix lays everyone out against every skill in one editable grid. Scores are entered by tapping a cell, autosave as you go, and are colour-coded automatically so gaps and strengths are visible at a glance.

Reports & access

What reports are included?

SkillScorer includes 18 analytics reports covering individuals and teams — from assessment completeness and skill history to team rankings, skill gaps, and season-over-season trends. See the full list on the Reports page.

Who can see what?

Admins can see and report on the whole organisation. Coaches and managers automatically see only their own teams — the same screens and reports, scoped to their role without any extra setup. The people you assess can log in too, and only ever see their own card, progress and goals.

Player Dashboard

What is the Player Dashboard?

It is what the people you assess see when they log in: a personal Player Card with an overall rating, progress tiles, goals, self-assessment, badges, a journey chart across the years, shout-outs from coaches, and an optional team wall. Everything is built automatically from the scores entered in SkillScorer. See the Player Dashboard page for an example of each part.

Is the Player Dashboard only for sports clubs?

No. It works in every industry SkillScorer supports, and uses your own words, such as employee, apprentice, clinician or student, instead of player. The card shows your discipline where a sports card would show a position.

Can people share their Player Card?

Only if they choose to. Sharing the card as a picture is off for each person until they turn it on, and an Administrator can switch Player Cards off for the whole organisation.

Can coaches see what someone rates themselves?

Only if an Administrator allows it. A self-assessment is private to the person by default, and when it is allowed, coaches and managers see it only for the people on their own teams.

Can we switch parts of the dashboard off or limit them?

Yes. Administrators can switch Player Cards, Shout-outs, the Team Wall and the daily summary notification on or off, choose the time that notification is sent, choose whether coaches can see self-assessments, and set how many goals a person can have in progress at once, from one to five.

Do people get notifications on their phone?

Yes, if they use the SkillScorer phone app. Each person can receive one notification a day that tells them about new badges and new shout-outs, and nothing is sent when there is nothing new. An Administrator chooses the time it is sent, in the organisation’s own time zone, and it is mid-morning by default so a work app never notifies people after hours. It can also be switched off for the whole organisation.

Security & billing

How is our data kept secure?

Access is role-based throughout the platform, so people only ever see the teams and data relevant to them. See the Security page for more detail.

How is pricing structured?

See the Pricing page for current plans. Get in touch if you have a question that is not covered there.
